Tarzan vs. Conan by John Buscema

This is pretty much the perfect sketch for this blog, Robert E. Howard's Conan versus Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan, art by John Buscema.

Blog Mission

This blog is devoted to chronicling the comic adaptions of the literary characters created by two of the most important American authors from the first half of the 20th Century, Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard.

Burroughs is undoubtedly known best for creating Tarzan, but we'll also take a look at his other popular characters that made the transition into the comics medium, such as Korak, John Carter, Carson of Venus, and others. We'll take a look at all eras but focus most likely on the appearance from the 1970's, especially when the ERB license and characters came to DC in 1972.

Like Burroughs, Robert E. Howard dabbled in a number of genres and created a number of characters, but he is undoubtedly most well known for his creation of Conan the Barbarian. Conan and other Robert E. Howard characters made the jump to the comics medium in the 1970's that is to Marvel Comics. In addition. To Conan we'll take a look at the comics appearances of Kull, Bran Mak Morn, Solomon Kane, and others.
